Over the years I've done a lot of covers. Like, a lot of covers. Most of them never get shared with the world because more or less they are technical exercises for myself to get back in the process of creating after long periods of artistic dormancy. In 2021, I was on a roll and I was finishing new demo afternoon demo and recording rough vocal takes and filing them away in the archives. When I had my first show, I made a joke about how we were out of time for my set which was a shame because that meant nobody was going to be able to hear my cover of temporary secretary by Paul McCartney. I hadn't brought the instrumental because I had no intent to perform it, but the audience wanted to hear it anyway and I had to tell them it was a joke. So at my next few shows, I brought along the instrumental and performed it as a last song.

It's catchy, goofy, and it lets me into my shows on a high note which is nice in so many my songs are fairly depressing. I had a release ready for band camp Friday this month, but then.. no it wasn't ready. So that will probably be next month, but I wanted to offer up something fun in the meantime. This was a single take demo I recorded in the attic of my uncle's house as a proof of concept in June 2021. Eventually I hope to do a proper studio version and properly license it.

The art was drawn at the time by Sara-Lynn Larkin, a friend and coworker I have since lost contact with.
